Pricing Changes

Pricing is the #1 struggle for many photographers, whether you're just starting out or realize it's time to raise based on your COG (cost of goods). For me I started out in this photography journey wanting to do what all new photographers do, I wanted to bring in lots of clients because I thought they wanted CHEAP. But you get what you pay for right?

Pricing yourself is really confusing when you first start out. You want people to like you and come to you over anyone else, no matter how "good" you think you are. I realize everyone starts somewhere, I did too. I honestly am so embarrassed every time I pull up a image from when I started in early 2014. It was not pretty at all! I use to only charge I believe $50 for a cake smash/first birthday session. It seemed like I was rolling in the mullllla getting paid $50 here and there when we needed the extra cash right away. It wasn't until late last year that I took a online class on how to price yourself. I took a step back and looked at the real cost to me and what can I do to make my sessions better for my clients...

When I get contacted for a first birthday session my first question is going to be, "What do you want?" I try to plan out each and every little detail with clients and make sure their session is styled to your life but with my own personal touches. We go over everything from colors to themes and what to wear. I offer with my first birthday sessions of course the cake smash, 3 additional sets/backdrops, but also I've added the extra bath session after the cake smash. I put in a bit of time planning each session in as detailed fashion as possible. I also try to make sure I don't do the same thing twice with cake smashes (unless you just really liked a set). I can also order specific props and colors to go along with your selections.

I have decided it is now time for me to slowly start increasing my session pricing. As of now my current session fee for a first birthday cake smash is $170. it includes 5 watermarked digitals. It includes the cake and the whole shebang. But that is leaving my creative soul feeling empty as I can not go above and beyond for my clients. I want to style session to reflect just how unique and special each child truely is.

As of May 2016 My pricing for a cake smash session will be raised to $275. A deposit of $100 will be due within 48 hours of booking your date to secure your date and time. Remaining session fee of $175 will be due 48 hours prior to session unless a payment plan is established. To order a custom onesie for your session is an additional $30. To include siblings or family will also be an additional cost of $50. Session will include the cake smash, tub splash, and 3 additional sets with one set being on my signature wood wall. I also will be including a video slideshow with your session for you to share via facebook or other online social media sources. You may also purchase the video for personal use for an additional $40, song selection of your choosing and you choose 20-30 images for your slideshow. Digitals included will be watermarked with my logo. Print releases are not available unless you purchase the high resolution digital files. Printing or altering a watermarked photo is illegal and a violation of copyright. I offer quality products and prints via a professional lab. Ordering prints can happen via your online gallery or opt for a personalized ordering session.

I take my job very seriously. I do understand this kind of session is a luxury and not everyone can lay down the money in one lump. This is why I also offer payment plans according to your needs. Please just know I am not out to make some kind of massive fortune, but I also have my own family to help provide for. I want to be reasonable with every budget. I now am going to also be scheduling pre session consultations at my Huntington studio for returning clients or a local cafe in Huntington Co. At your Pre-Session appointment, we will then go over your budget, your vision & just anything else we can think of. I also encourage you to bring your little one along as to give me and the child a chance to bond if they maybe a shy personality.
