Ram the Ham turned ONE!!!
This lil cutie is actually the offspring to my dear friend & fellow photographer Kristen Mittlestedt <3 (you can find her info below as well)
Ram is his nickname & I think it just fits him dashingly! If you are ever lucky enough to meet this presh lil chunk, you'll find his smile contagious!
He is such a joy to be around, like his momma for sure. When I felt like I was getting nothing but little girls booked for cake smashes I needed a lil break from all the pink! Let's be honest you would to LOL. So I ask his momma if I could finally steal him and do up some images for her since she has always done photos of me and my crew from my wedding to simple family sessions. We chose to go with something simple & his momma let me go with the flow and do what I wanted as far as a theme. Even though I've recently tried going for a lil more over the top on my themes... I'm a sucker for a simple set with very little as far as props go and just make it about a baby and their cake!
So with my creative brain a going, I sat out to come up with something special but simple. I had been busy with other things in life during this time so it slipped my mind to order a cake from my previous baker, so walmart cake it was! I got the only "boyish" cake they had and I was crunched for time as I waited till the night before! UGH shame on me, I know! So night before the session was planned and I played like I had things under control.... on the inside I was a little panicked. I sat and thought of what could I do that would tie in the colorful sprinkles without going overboard. ThenI had the idea of "a colorful sprinkle backdrop" so I sat out to stay up till 3am cutting out a rainbow of random sized circles. Just hours prior to Kristen & Ram arriving, I had the thought as well to ask Kristen if Ram was also a "Rainbow Baby".... & to my excitement she said "yes he was, our little miracle baby" YAY!!!!! Also should note that she has no idea what I was planing as far as theme as well! SO I was so pumped to tie in the idea of him being a "Rainbow Baby" with my colorful circle idea!
I think it's just safe to say that Ram was not worried that he didn't have a bunch of props or balloons to get in his way. He was perfectly happy making a mess of himself, the cake, his mom, and even myself! I could seriously just photography babies playing with cake all day long! It's always a joy to see how each child reacts so differently to sweets. Ram did not disappoint us <3
